stoneware, wooden pedestals

The main inspiration for the studio’s work is nature and ancient ceramics, we wanted to capture this essence in a new dimension, prioritizing form over function. A big impetus was the fascination with the idea of creating an object that surpasses the lifespan of the artist and captures the aesthetics of their presence. The handwriting of traditional studio forming is pushed to a greater extreme, the object expands and cracks to its limit, creating fissures that show the natural manifestation of clay as a primitive material. The pedestals are made of old beams, with this approach we wanted to exploit the potential of an old material that would otherwise not be used. The wood is treated with the traditional Yakisugi method, highlighting the past and beauty of the material.
